From 3-14-1831 to the present time all state roads are 60 feet wide. From 1792 to 2-17-1804 any width necessary. From 2-17-1804 to 1-22-1806 any width necessary not over 66 feet. From 1-22-1806 to 2-20-1809 any width necessary not over 60 feet.

Highways do not pay for themselves.

Tolls provide only 4 percent of that total. Another 48 percent comes from Ohio's gas tax, and license and registration fees; 22 percent from federal funding including a federal gas tax.

ODOT is solely responsible for the state system of roads, which includes all interstates (except the Turnpike), as well as state or U.S. routes outside of municipalities. State or U.S. routes within a corporation's limits are maintained by that municipality.
