I have to admit that when I first heard the phrase “armpit fudge,” I was pretty grossed out! But after reading the recipe, I knew that the Scouts in my den would LOVE this!

Every time I share this on my Facebook page, a few parents comment that they just can't make this because it sounds so disgusting.

If you're one of those parents, remember it's not for you–it's for the kids! I guarantee you that the kids will have so much fun.

But if you must call it something else, try fudge in a bag. No armpits involved!

Although this is called “fudge,” it is closer to the consistency of frosting. I haven't tried putting in the refrigerator to see if it will harden a bit to be more like fudge. That would involve patience which is not a trait most Cub Scouts possess! 🙂

I love chocolate, and I love cream cheese! So, this armpit fudge recipe is a yummy treat for me. Of course, I smush my bag with my hands instead of my armpits.

You can also smush it with your knees. Pretty much any action will work as long as you're kneading the ingredients together.

Armpit Fudge Ingredients

1/2 cup confectioner's sugar
1 tablespoon butter
2 teaspoons cream cheese
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 teaspoons unsweetened cocoa powder

You'll also need recloseable plastic bags. I recommend using quart-sized freezer bags with a slider closure like these Hefty bags.

Ingredient Amounts for Your Entire Pack

Shout out to Tony who figured this out and shared in a comment! Thanks!

If you want to make armpit fudge with your entire pack, you're going to need a little more than 1/2 cup of confectioner's sugar!

Tony calculated how much of each ingredient you would need to make 50 servings of armpit fudge.

  • 8 lbs of confectioner's sugar
  • 7 sticks of butter
  • 18 oz of Cream Cheese
  • 3 oz Vanilla Extract
  • 3 cups of Cocoa powder

How to Make Armpit Fudge

Put all of the ingredients in a recloseable plastic bag. Squeeze the air out of the bag and seal it. Knead the bag until all of the ingredients are thoroughly mixed. You can use your armpits, your knees, your hands–anything you can think of to smush the bag!

After the ingredients are thoroughly mixed, open the bag and eat with a spoon.

This recipe can be fudge for one, or you can share it if you want.

How to Serve Armpit Fudge

We eat armpit fudge with a spoon right out of the bag! But a few people have shared cool ways of serving it.

You can use your armpit fudge as a dip for sliced apples. (That sort of makes it healthy, right? 😉 )

Give the kiddos rice krispie treats or sugar cookies to squeeze the frosting on. Simply cut a small corner off of the bag, and squeeze it out.

Dairy Allergies

When our den made armpit fudge, one of our Cub Scouts was allergic to dairy. I hate leaving out any kids who have allergies, so I asked his mom if there were ingredients we could substitute so that he could make his own armpit fudge.

She gave me the substitutions, and I wrote a separate post for that. So, if you have a Scout with a dairy allergy, you'll want to check out the recipe for dairy-free armpit fudge.

Notes

While we're calling this "fudge," the consistency is more like thick frosting.

I recommend using quart-sized freezer bags with a zip top.
